Review : Anarchy by Skymember

Product description: If you like heavily gimmicked deck and triumph, I think you will like this. Skymember have released a few items in the past few months and not all of them were great but Anarchy looked so good I had to take the bit and show it to you guys. You have a card selected in a deck, lost and then you shuffle half of the deck up and half down so the deck is a real mess. A snap and all the cards are now facing down except the selected one. And when you turn the deck around, it’s in all new deck order, with the selected card at its right spot. Let’s find out if this is good or not.

Price and where to buy it: This is sold at $29.95 and you can find it here : www.magicdream.fr/#ae2

What you get: You only get a deck of cards, no packaging whatsoever or even a link for the instructions. This is the worst place to put the instruction link: ON THE TAB OF THE DECK. Nobody will find it there, I think this is a dumb move. The video is fine and well-shot, they teach everything you need to know. However, you get the cards which are gimmicked and made out of Maiden back. The gimmicking is clever, yet a bit complicated but with a few hours of training, you’ll get this down. Bicycle quality cards, ingenious yet complicated secret, I’m half happy half disappointed with it.

The pros and the cons: Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.

THE CONS:

  • As I said, this is heavily gimmicked so you can only do this trick with this deck of cards, don’t expect to do anything else. And you have to be a bit serious when you spread the deck, you might flash things. Of course, you can’t shuffle it or hand it out.

  • You’ll need to be able to do a perfect faro in order to do the trick which is not a con but may throw off some people.

  • You’ll need a table to perform this trick.

THE PROS:

  • This is one of the most visual triumph I’ve seen, you get a double kicker with the cards being all in the same orientation and in the perfect order.

  • Half of the cards are regular so you can flash some of them to convince your audience you’re handling a real and regular deck.

  • Nobody will notice the fact it’s Maiden back design, if you’re using Rider back and then switch for this deck, nobody will find out.

  • I like the fact it’s not easy to do, it means that even with a gimmicked deck, this trick requires skills and learning.

  • Do a perfect faro isn’t impossible, and some people told me they learnt the faro thanks to this trick.

Overall rating: At the end, it’s not that bad, it’s very visual but will require some condition to be performed, 3/4 hearts.

As for the difficulty level, it will require a perfect faro, you’re warned but overall, it’s something you’ll learn in a few hours, 3/5 stars.

Similar products: I’m so bad at triumph, I don’t know the name of all of them.
