Product description: Boys boys boys, this has to be the hottest product of all summer, quite close to Level One in February! This latest trick by Jason Knowles is a visual opener designed for the close up worker. You introduce a folded pack of cards, out of your wallet and present it to people. You throw it in your hands and suddenly, it pops open to make a real deck of cards. But the thing which is unbelievable is that you can pull out cards for this foldable card case. It’s visual, packs small plays big but is it worth your money? Let’s find out!
Price and where to buy it: This is sold at $34.95 and you can find it here : www.magicdream.fr/#ae2
What you get: You get a hard cardboard box which is simple yet pretty, and protects the gimmick which is placed into foam so it won’t get beat up in your parcel. The gimmick is already made, I find it nice, it’s a little bit bigger than a card box and does the job properly. In the first batch, we received extra supplies to repair your gimmick but it does look they don’t include it anymore. But it’s something you can easily get online. You’re also provided with an instructional video which teaches you how to handle and use your gimmick. There is a Facebook group too which is pretty useful because you can exchange directly with the creator.
The pros and the cons: Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.
THE CONS:
Due to the material used, this is a bit fragile and will break over time. But it’s simple to repair and Jason have made a super simple video on the Facebook group to show you how to repair it properly.
Bringing the cards into play is a bit tricky and will need work, the angles are also a bit tricky but nothing impossible.
THE PROS:
This is one the best opener I’ve seen, it made me think of 3D advertising by Henry Evans which is good because you give a meaning to the fact you’re bringing an odd object.
The gimmick is really well made and pops open quickly and visually so you will fool yourself in the mirror while playing with it.
To bring out the cards, it’s much more simple than what I thought, this can be done with no fumbling or perfect lining, it’s very good.
If you’re sat or use a table, you can also do the reverse routine, put the cards back in the box and fold the case, which is visually stunning too.
There’s even a instagram version which requires no going back to the pocket but is only suitable for social media.
Overall rating: This is a really nice idea, nicely made and will last a long time with a bit of repair. Not something I’ll perform regularly but definitely a nice visual opener, 3/4 hearts.
As for the difficulty level, opening the gimmick is self working but bringing the cards into play is a bit more difficult, 2/5 stars.
