Review : Winner's Dice by Secret Factory

Product description: You may know Secret Factory for some of their already produced tricks (like Psi Power which I will talk about in a next review) and here they are for a new forcing dice! Winner’s Dice is a dice which will allow you to force any number and be able to switch the forcing number during the course of the routine without your audience noticing it. It looks and feels like a regular dice but it has very special properties. Is this good for your routine, worth your money, let’s find out!

Price and where to buy it: This is sold at $39.95 and you can find it here: www.magicdream.fr.

What you get: You get a small hard cardboard box, with a sticker on it which is here to warn you to use the gimmicks gently because they may break if they’re not used correctly. Inside the box, you receive a link so you can watch the video online, it’s simple and to the point, nothing really fancy about it. The dice is provided, it’s white and quite small. Inside a little black velvet bag, you get 2 gimmicks, one to setup the forcing number and the other to actually make the dice roll on the forcing number. It’s hard not to say a lot on this one without giving it away. They are very powerful so you have to take care of where and how you use them. Overall, it’s a nice little bit of kit and I can see it working very strongly.

The pros and the cons: Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.

THE CONS:

  • You can’t do this everywhere, you need to setup a bit your environment in order to be able to do the force.

  • If you don’t use the correct mug or glass, the outcome is 100% sure so I suggest you test a wide variety of container before doing it.

  • It has to be rolled in something, you can’t just throw it on the table.

THE PROS:

  • This is not a loaded dice, so people can roll it prior the force and a random number will pop out each time. It convinces your audience that it’s not a gimmicked dice, which is quite common in people’s mind.

  • You can change the forcing number during the course of the routine just by placing the dice on the card case for example so it’s something very powerful if you want to adapt your routine in front of your public.

  • The dice feels, rolls and looks regular.

  • I suggest to use a small shot glass, and add the gimmick to it during your presentation, people can roll it inside a few times before you add it so they check the dice. Then add it with a bit of white talk and you’re good.

  • You can use it to force or to reveal a number, so it has a lot of room for presentation.

Overall rating: This does the job, if you’re looking for a configurable forcing dice, and that you understand all the setup thing around it, you won’t be disappointed with Winner’s Dice, 3/4 hearts.

As for the difficulty level, it’s almost automatic, you just have to get the knack, 2/5 stars.

Similar products: Loaded dice have been around for ages, it seems that Lubor Fiedler had something in this field.
