Product description: I really like CardShark, they managed to produce cards which compete with Bicycles, they have put out some very unique deck of cards and gimmicks. Now, they capitalise on what they invented by mixing principle. The Misfit Deck is one of those tricks with which you say: “Why didn’t I think of this?”. You can do quite some things with the deck but the main one is: you have someone name a card, you write it down on your business card and you draw a cross on your first prediction which was wrong (let’s say they name the king of Clubs and your prediction was the 5 of Hearts). You then ask them to put the business card wherever they want in the deck, you take the card under the business card and it is in fact the king of Clubs! But that’s not it, when you show all the other cards, they’re all the 5 of Hearts. It’s a really cool gaffed deck.
Price and where to buy it: This is sold at $49 and you can find it on the CardShark website : http://www.card-shark.de/index.cfm?page=65&lang=en&detail=true&Category=10&ArtID=367
What you get: You get a plastic packaging, quite usual from CardShark, with inside the deck and the link which will get you to website on which you have to register then you can activate your registration then you get a mail with the password in order to watch the videos. It’s quite a long and boring process which adds nothing to the security of the whole thing, it’s just long and I don’t like to give my mail to watch an explanation video. Anyway, you have several videos, the main one is about 30 minutes long and you also get a pdf with additional routines so that you can do several things with the same deck. Overall, it’s not cheap but it’s a clever gimmicked deck.
The pros and the cons: Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.
THE CONS:
The outcome (5 of Hearts in the description) will always be the same so bare that in mind when you do the trick again at the same room.
This is a fully gaffed deck so you can only do the routines provided (or develop your own).
THE PROS:
The Misfit Deck is a very clever use of 2 principles developed by CardShark and mixed together! It gives this versatile deck, where you can show all 52 cards and still amaze people.
The pdf is really complete and gives you a lot of advices and routines so you can have the maximum potential with your deck.
You can really handle the cards very easily without any fear, and they are also marked which helps you a lot during the routine.
The spectator really can name any card, you’ll be able to reveal it easily.
You have several ways to let them select a card, some are harder than other so everyone can find something they can do!
I think having the same outcome can also be a big plus because if people watch the trick again, they wouldn’t understand how a different card has been chosen and all the other ones are still 5 of Hearts.
Overall rating: This is a very cool gaffed deck which you should consider buying if you like what you see in the trailer, it’s not examinable but I don’t think people will ever ask you to take a look at it, 3/4 hearts.
As for the difficulty level, it depends on the way you proceed but overall, it’s quite easy to do 2/5 stars.
Similar products: The Destiny Deck is quite similar to the Misfit one, but the other way around if you see what I mean.. :D
