Product description: Tint is a new color changing deck, with a clever method and a well made gimmick. It is created by Arief Nugroho and produced by Agus Tjiu, who published Cross, Void etc.. So you know the gimmick will be really well made. You begin with a blue deck of cards and just by turning it in your hands, you can turn it into a red one. Just pull out the cards from the case and the case can now be handed out. You have to do a little work so that the deck can also be examined but nothing impossible. Let’s see if this is worth the asked price.
Price and where to buy it: This is sold at $29.95 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's magic partner !
What you get: You get a plastic ziplock bag, I was used to a bit of better packaging quality from Agus Tjiu but anyway. Inside, you’ll find the link in order to watch the explanation video, which is made in 2 parts: assembling the gimmick on your deck which requires a one time preparation of 5 minutes and then the actual teaching of the handling of the gimmick. The English is not the best I’ve heard but still easy to understand. You need a cutter, a brand new deck, a ruler and some tape so you can setup the gimmick, it’s easy to do. The gimmick provided is really well made and you buy the Red to Blue or the Blue to Red. Overall, if you like what you see in the video, you won’t be disappointed with it.
The pros and the cons: Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.
THE CONS:
It’s a bit angly when the change is done, so you have to watch people around you when doing the trick.
I wish the gimmick would come ready out of the box, the work to do is minimal but still, I wish they’ve done it.
THE PROS:
It’s very visual, what you see in the video is what you will be able to achieve in real life if you buy it.
The gimmick is clever, well made and works a treat, they could have added magnets to it to make it more secure but it would maybe overkill it.
Your case is examinable after you pull out the cards from it so it’s another great point. If your case is worn out, just take another one.
They give a good idea in the video if you want to easily get rid of the gimmick, you can stick a joker to it so by removing the jokers, you take off the gimmick.
It’s not that expensive, the gimmick is quite complicated in its construction so the price is faire in my opinion.
There is no thread, no latex or magnets to break, this is a mechanical working gimmick and it works well.
Before and after the change, you can show both sides of the box, which is a huge plus.
Overall rating: I like this change very much, it’s visual and easy to do. I don’t know if I will be carrying the gimmick but I can definitely see people using it, 3/4 hearts.
As for the difficulty level, preparing the card case is very easy to do and the activation of the gimmick too so I’ll say 2/5 stars.
Similar products: I have had a color changing deck by Astor which was interesting but definitely not examinable.
