Product description: Dominique Duvivier is a famous French Magician who have produced a lot of tricks. Many of them are really easy to do so is The Deck That Shuffles Itself, if you can spread the cards, you can do the trick ! The idea behind this fully gaffed deck is to provide a multi-phase routine so you can amaze your audience. First the deck is regular, then it gets mixed up face up face down, then all the cards are the same, then it goes back to normal. You even have a final effect with the box. And of course, no manipulation or akward handling of the deck. Let’s see if this is good !
Price and where to buy it: This is sold at $30 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's magic partner !
What you get: You get a really nice and simple packaging, which protects the card case and of course the deck inside. The video is really well done, it is available in English and in French, you understand everything you need to understand, but when you look at the deck, it’s pretty much self explanatory. The deck has been printed by the USPCC so the quality is like the Bicycle, every single card of the deck is gaffed so you can do the effect. It’s pretty much what you think it is. Overall, it’s not so expensive for a good quality gaffed deck with a multi-phase routine, if you like what you see in the demo, you won’t be disappointed with what you receive !
The pros and the cons: Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.
THE CONS:
As I said, the deck is fully gaffed so don’t expect being able to do anything else with it than the trick provided.
The card (Queen of Hearts) will also always be the same when you turn the whole deck into the same card.
THE PROS:
It’s very easy to do, as I said, just a bit of presentation and being able to spread the cards will make you perform this trick in seconds.
It’s very theatrical, you spread the whole deck on the table, it has a big impact on people.
During the routine, you never do anything weird with the deck, you don’t touch it except for spreading the cards so it’s a clean routine.
It leaves a lot of room for presentation, if you want to act like you shuffle a “invisible” deck, you can. If you want to play on any other topic, it’s possible too.
I think this would play well if you use a regular deck during your performance and then switch it for the gaffed one, it would allow you to give the impression that the deck was always regular.
The extra climax at the end with the box is really fun I think, when people think the trick is over, it’s always good to do a little something more so they don’t expect it.
Overall rating: It’s a really nice routine, the effect is good but I don’t see myself carrying this special deck to do this special trick, 3/4 hearts.
As for the difficulty level, if you spread the cards, you can do the trick, this is almost self working, 1/5 stars.
Similar products: I’ve never seen such a gaffed deck and such an effect.
