Product description: If you have one card revelation and 100 forces, you have 1 trick. If you have 100 card revelations but only 1 force, you have 100 tricks. I always try to remember that when I look for new magic trick on the market, whether they’re gimmicks or techniques. Here, Stellar is a metallic card clip which has a built in revelation, a very cool one. You will shine a light through the holes and they will reveal the previously chosen card. But is it worth the asked price ? Let’s find out !
Price and where to buy it: This is sold at $39.95 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's magic partner !
What you get: You get the classic cardboard box with magnetic lid, very esthetic in my opinion. Inside, protected by foam, you have the card clip which is made out of metal with a mirror finish on it. It’s beautiful but fingers will leave a trace on it very easily and it is also quite easy to get scratches on it. For that, you get a little black velvet bag if you need to clean it or carry it in a protected way. The video provided is simple, less than 10 minutes but you understand everything. Overall, it’s quite expensive for a card clip which can be damaged easily, but the effect is worth it in my opinion.
The pros and the cons: Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.
THE CONS:
As I said, the clip is quite fragile, you can leave traces and scratches on it without paying attention. I don’t mind, I think it gives a authentic look to it. But the mirror finish (which is why this is so fragile) wasn’t needed in my opinion.
You have to be in a quite dark atmosphere so people can really see the revelation. Daylight will kill the reveal.
There is only 1 reveal possible.
THE PROS:
I really like this revelation, Mathieu Bich had something similar with a punched playing card, which was later released by Tenyo. It looks very magical !
It’s very easy to do, you only have to know a force and you’re good to go.
I love tricks which involve the spectator’s phone, it gives an extra layer of deception to the routine. You can use the flashlight on his phone to do the reveal.
The card clip can also protect your deck, so if you don’t want to use it, you don’t have to. No gimmicks are in play in the deck.
It will be hard for people to trackback the working of the clip, which can be handed out, so it’s a positive for me.
Overall rating: I think this is one of the most magical playing card in my opinion, clever, useful. Unfortunately, the card clip can be dirty too quick and scratches can appear too quick, which is why I remove 1 heart, 3/4 hearts.
As for the difficulty level, you need to know how to force a card, handling the clip is very easy, 2/5 stars.
