Product description : Card to impossible location is a famous plot in magic, whether you place it in a clear box, in a metal box etc.. Mickael Chatelain has come up with a “new” way of doing it, just by placing the folded card on the card box. The routine is simple, a card is selected and signed, lost in the deck. You take the folded card which has been in full view for the entire routine, unfold it and it is the signed card. Is it good ? Let’s find out !
Price and where to buy it : This is sold at $44.95 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's magic partner !
What you get : You receive a small plastic box, Mickael step up his game in terms of packaging. What used to be a plastic ziplock bag is now a plastic box, much more robust and cleaner in terms of packaging. Inside, you’ll find a link in order to watch an online video, which is pretty well done, not a fantastic quality but good enough for you to understand the principle in play. You also receive the gimmicked box which has already been made for you, you just have to put whatever thing on it : card, billet, business card etc.. The mechanism is clever as is the overall working of the box, it’s really clean. I think you won’t be disappointed by what you receive, whether it is the gimmick or the possibilities with it. It’s quite expensive but it’s really well made and works perfectly.
The pros and the cons : Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.
THE CONS :
My main concern with this is the noise, you have a pretty big noise when the gimmick is triggered which can be heard even in loud places. I think you’ll have to manage it or include it in your patter.
You can’t place the folded card directly on the box in front of your spectator, you must walk to them with the box setup ready to go, that’s another big flaw for me.
THE PROS :
The gimmick is really well made and should last a long time, I like how the mechanism is activated and how easy it is to change the part which may be damaged over time.
The retention of vision is great, if you don’t think about the noise issue, you’ll be baffled by how clean the move looks.
There is nothing glued or stuck, you can exchange quite easily the thing you want to place on the box (card, billet, bill, note etc..) so you can do several presentations if you want to in one gig.
The plastic box provided is perfect for protecting your gimmick if you want to carry it in your close up case so it doesn’t get damaged.
You can place a deck inside the box when loaded.
The reset is fairly quick, you could do it between tables.
Overall rating : If you know how to cover the noise, then this trick is great, it looks really perfect and it has a lot of uses. I think it’s quite organic and looks natural. However, I don’t see myself using it, 3/4 hearts
As for the difficulty level, you have to know how to do a mercury card fold but the switch of the card is fairly easy, you should get the knack quickly, 2/5 stars.
Similar products : This trick is very similar to Frogy by Illusionista Snake but Frogy was awful and made with the a**. This however is much more realistic and usable.
