Product description : Dylan Sausset is a French magician, and Stickly is his first creation ! He teamed up with the well-known Jean-Pierre Vallarino in order to produce this gimmick. The idea is simple, a spectator selects and signs a card and loose it in the pack, you put the cards in the case. You then introduce a small sticker which you put on the case. A small shake and the sticker disappear and you find it on the back of the signed card. This is one of the possible routine you can do with Sticky, you can do changes, vanish, and more with the gimmick provided. So is it good ? Let’s find out !
Price and where to buy it : This is sold at $39.95 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's magic « partner » shop !
What you get : You get a small ziplock bag which could have been a little better. In France, the packaging is different, it’s a cardboard box but for sake of shipping, I think they changed the packaging for overseas. Inside, you’ll find the link for the explanation video, it is well shot and teach you everything you need to know in order to use Stickly. They even teach you how to repair it. You get additional stickers and stuff to repair your gimmick in case it breaks. And finally, you get a full deck of card with the gimmick, it’s really well made and only come in blue Bicycle. I find the gimmick to be really clever and I’ve never seen anything like this before, if we speak about the working of it. For the price, the package is complete, you can start right out of the box and the video is good, I’m not disappointed.
The pros and the cons : Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.
THE CONS :
[if !supportLists]· [endif]As I said, this is only available in blue Bicycle, but you can adapt it in any other design if you want to when you understand how the gimmick works.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]You have a gimmick in the deck so you’ll have to get rid of it if you want to have a clean deck. Note that having the gimmick in the deck doesn’t mean you won’t be able to do any routine with it but I prefer to have a deck without gimmick.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]The gimmick can break but you get enough stuff to repair it.
THE PROS :
[if !supportLists]· [endif]The vanish of the sticker is really visual and really easy to do, just place it on the box, shake and you’re good to go.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]The versatility of the gimmick is something really cool too, you’re not limited to only one routine and I’m sure that you’ll come up with new ideas when you receive it.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]I love the fact that the box isn’t gimmicked at all ! You can vanish the sticker and let people handle the box without any problem, it is 100% clean.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]The gimmick is only 2 cards thick and built into a joker so it’s easy to remove it from the deck just by saying I’ll remove the jokers.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]You’re not limited to stickers, when you understand the principle, I think you can modify it so it can be something else.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]The reset is very quick so you can reset between tables.
Overall rating : I think this is a neat gimmick which does the job perfectly ! I won’t be using it since I want to use the least possible amount of gimmicks but I can see this being pure gold into the right hands, 3/4 hearts.
As for the difficulty level, nothing hard, just get use to the gimmick and you’ll be good, I would say 2/5 stars.
Similar products : Hologram by David Stone is something which also uses stickers and could be used in conjunction with Stickly so you have a full routine with stickers !
