Review : Magikub by Frederico Poeymiro

Product description : Well well well, I don’t like giving bad reviews, I really don’t. However, this Magikub isn’t good at all, but that’s not the point of this section. The routine is that you show a mixed up Rubik’s Cube and in less than one second, you solve it.. Yeah, it sounds awesome but trust me, it’s not. For the price asked, you can get better products rather than this gimmick. Anyway, let’s go into the review !

Price and where to buy it : This is sold at $74.95 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's magic « partner » shop !

What you get : The box you get is quite nice, thin cardboard with a flashy writing, really pleased with the packaging. Inside, you have a link for an explanation video, which is like 6 minutes long ! 6 fu****ing minutes ! It’s shorter than my French video reviews ! Anyway, the video teaches you how to use the gimmick but you don’t get a lot of information. In the box, you get the gimmick which is.. not that badly made, it looks ok if you’re standing 10 meters from it.. I don’t like the colours which don’t look like a real Rubik’s Cube. The gimmick makes noise when you operate it, doesn’t look convincing (there is no live performances in the video) and is too expensive.. Do I have to keep on with the review ?

The pros and the cons : Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.

THE CONS :

[if !supportLists]– [endif]Let’s go ! First, this doesn’t look convincing at all ! It wouldn’t fool a blind monkey, you can’t use it for close up but the change isn’t visible enough to be used for stage, so what are going to do with it ? Use it in the drawer ?

[if !supportLists]– [endif]Why is it priced so expensive ? Nearly $75 for a gimmicked cube which can only do one thing and that you can’t use for anything else, is it a joke ?

[if !supportLists]– [endif]The gimmick makes so much noise, it’s awful. You could cover it by snapping your fingers or talking but still, not good.

[if !supportLists]– [endif]There are so many good ways to instantly solve a cube without the need of a gimmick, this doesn’t have any place on the market.

[if !supportLists]– [endif]The gimmick doesn’t lock every time, I can’t make it work 100% with the explanations given.

THE PROS :

[if !supportLists]– [endif]The change looks good, if you’re standing a few meters away. Or maybe if you want to do it on video, it would look good.

[if !supportLists]– [endif]It’s easy to do, easier than learning how to solve a real cube. However, it will be much more rewarding to learn something like Rubik’s Nightmare, Cube3 or CubeFX than this piece of..

[if !supportLists]– [endif]The packaging is nice.

Overall rating : This is the most horrible Rubik’s Cube product I’ve seen in a long time, too expensive, makes noise, doesn’t look convincing. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone, 1/4 hearts.

As for the difficulty level, if you learn how to use it and can make it works every time, I would say 3/5 stars.

Similar products : There are many products out there which are 10000000% better than this Magikub, begin to learn how to solve a cube, then do magic trick with it : Cube 3 is perfect for that. If you want gimmicks, you can go and look for Rubik’s Dream or Perfect Square. Cubed Cards is a very good release too.
