Review : Fire Kit by Martin Braessas

Product description : Fire is a very interesting element in magic, it always please people and makes them talk about your magic. Fire Kit will allow you to produce fire from anything, whether its your business card, your spectator’s one, a watch, a deck of card, anything ! Of course, you will need a source of fire such as a candle or a lighter but the effect is very interesting.

Price and where to buy it : This is sold at $39 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's magic « partner » shop !

What you get : You get a small cardboard box, which is nicely printed, it’s good to see that they put time and effort in the packaging. Inside, you will find a little card with a link on it to watch an online video. The video is well made, nothing amazing about it but you learn how to properly use the gimmicks. Inside the packaging, you can find 3 different sized gimmicks, a small, a medium and a big one so you can adapt the one you’re using to the object you want to put in fire. Larger gimmick will produce more fire but needs a big object to be concealed. Overall, the quality is there, you can’t go wrong for the price, if you’re looking for a fire effect, this is an interesting tool.

The pros and the cons : Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.

THE CONS :

[if !supportLists]– [endif]You have to prep your gimmick everytime you want to do it and you can’t repeat it for 10 times in a row. So the reset is a bit of a pain.

[if !supportLists]– [endif]The gimmick is “simple” so don’t expect a high tech device.

THE PROS :

[if !supportLists]– [endif]As I said, fire is an element which connects with spectators, it helps because you don’t have to say a word, the visual speaks by itself.

[if !supportLists]– [endif]The fact you’re provided with 3 gimmicks is very cool because you can adapt easily the size so it will nearly fit with the object you want to put in fire.

[if !supportLists]– [endif]If you take care of the gimmicks, it should last a long time if not a lifetime.

[if !supportLists]– [endif]I said the reset was a bit of a problem but if you don’t let your object in fire for too long, you should be able to do the trick multiple times before you need to go refill it.

[if !supportLists]– [endif]This is very versatile, you can use almost every object on earth, from coins, bills, balls, cookies.. So whatever use you have, Fire Kit is likely to fit your need.

[if !supportLists]– [endif]You can use it close up or on stage, the fire is pretty big so it shouldn’t be a problem from a certain distance.

Overall rating : It’s an interesting tool, it does the job and does it well. Unfortunately, the reset for me is an issue, I think it’s better to use this as an opener, 3/4 hearts.

As for the difficulty level, no difficulty here, just be careful with fire, I would say 2/5 stars.

Similar products : The Fire Coin by Edouard Boulanger can be a good idea if you want this built into a coin, so you can show it both sides.
