Review : Xray by Rasmus

Product description : This effects is quite known amongs magician, you put a coin or ball in this case in the hand of the spectator, you let him decide to switch hands behind his back and when he put his hands in front of you, you instantly know in which hand the ball is. You can repeat the effect as many times as you want and you will always be right ! Xray is a technical solution to this problem, is it good or not ? Let's see that !

Price and where to buy it : This is sold at $49.95 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's magic « partner » shop !

What you get : You get a small metallic box with inside the link for the explanation video. The video is rather well shot and you get some clear explanations on how to perform the effect. You also get the gimmicks, 4 white balls and a black one. They work quite well together, not every time but I will get back to that during the cons. For what you get, I do think this is overpriced. I know you pay the idea (I published tricks before) but here, paying 50 bucks for that is not ok in my opinion. The main gimmick is not the best quality I've seen too, too many defaults for this to be worthy.

The pros and the cons : Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.

THE CONS :

• It's way too expensive for me, this should be sold at $30 or $35 maximum ! You do not get much out of it, you may already have the gimmicks at home.

• This idea seems to have already been published, so I doubt the originality of Rasmus there..

• If you have a darker skin color or if you're black, the gimmick won't fit you, so you're basically fucked up.

• I do not find it to be reliable 100%.

THE PROS :

• It's a non electronic solution to this plot, meaning you don't have to worry about batteries, or things not working.

• It's pretty wall packaged, I hope it's not because of that that the price is that high.

• You do get 2 main gimmicks, so you can choose the one which fits the best for you.

• Even though it's not 100% reliable, you will get good results out of it. You have to be used to the gimmick and it's sensitivity.

• You have to be careful with the gimmick, it's something many magician have used, so if you're confortable with, you won't have to worry !

• You do have to use the black ball which is provided or a special coin, I've not used the coin so my comments are based on my experience with the black ball.

Overall rating : Overall, it's a good routine, not my style and way overpriced, I wouldn't recommend it to my friends, 2/4 hearts.

As for the difficulty level, you have to get used to the sensitivity of the gimmick, which is qutie difficult at firsy, 3/5 stars.

Similar products : Of course we're in another price range but Scan 3D by Promystic and Sixth Sense 2.5 by Hugo Sheller are more reliable option for me.
