Product description : Well, finally a refreshing trick which does not involve playing cards, coins or smoke ! You have a bunch of postcards with famous movie poster printed on them and at the back of each, there is the list of all the movies you have in the pack. Each movie is different. Spectator chooses one, put the other ones away and begins to read the list at the back of his card so you can feel in his voice what movie he has chosen. And you suceed ! This is a pretty straight forward explanation of the routine but you will have to put your own presentation around it.
Price and where to buy it : This is sold at $46 and you can get from any partner of Murphy's Magic !
What you get : You get a small cardboard box with inside, all the postcards which are, in a way, gimmicked but still, they are examinable. The quality is great and they're well printed. You also get a postcard with all the movie on it as well as a link and code to watch online instructions you can download. The instructions are well shot, as you would expect from Alakazam, and clear. It doesn't take long to understand the working but they do teach you a lot more than that. Pretty happy with what I get.
The pros and the cons : Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.
THE CONS :
If a spectator wants to compare every card, he simply can't. But the way the routine is constructed, this won't happened.
Some of the movie are more famous than other so people might wondering if some movie don't exist but a quick research on internet will show that every movie of the pack does indeed exist.
It's a little bit expensive for what you get. You are paying the idea here rather than the props and I wish it was a little bit less expensive.
THE PROS :
This trick is fooling, I've done it to many layments AND magicians and they simply haven't got a clue. I think you could do it twice without them noticing anything.
When I received the trick, I didn't watch the explanations and I've looked at the cards like a layman would do. Honestly, I couldn't find anything at all and this mainly because I didn't know what to look for. Everthing seemed to be fine, all the movies were in the same order at the back of each card.. I trully couldn't find the secret or the way the cards were gimmicked.
This method is very easy to learn, you will know the movie because if you do this trick a lot, they will be in your minds quite easily but even if you forget them, they are several ways to do it without knowing the movies and the presentation woudl be identical. So very pleased that memory work isn't an issue here.
The method can also be adapted to a lot of things, from movie to actor's name or even places around the world, the possibility are endless. Language isn't a probleme neither because you will be able to easily find a way to use it with your own language.
Also, the fact the poster are in english is not an issue for me, I just adapted my presentation and I say that a friend of mine bring me those back from the States and people does know how posters look like, they were the same here in France, it's just the title which differ but nothing really that could be an issue.
Overall rating : Well well well, this trick fooled me and I know it would fool a lot of magicians, the question right now is : will I use it ? Maybe not all the time but I can see myself pulling those postcards at an event and starting a discussion about them and I can see the trick playing very big. It's hard to decide wether to put 3 or 4/4 hearts here, I will go with 4/4 hearts even if I won't be using this on a daily basis, I like the routine enought to keep these cards with me and definately doing this !
As for the difficulty level, you will have to remember the movies so you can get the best presentation possible, it's best to know the plot of each movie so you can adapt your revelation but if you forget them, you still can do the trick. 3/5 stars.

Thanks to Murphy's Magic for sending me this product !
