Review : "The Nomad Pad 2.0" by Nikola Pelletier

Product description : A few years after the first one, here is the version 2.0 of the Nomad Pad, with a few upgrades. Basically, it's an impression device, as many out there on the market, which will allow you to get the information of what drew the spectator without them noticing it. Is it worth the price ? Let's find out !

Price and where to buy it : This is sold at $120 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's magic « partner » shop !

What you get : You get a gimmicked pad, a spare pad for refills and a gimmicked pen. The whole thing is wrapped up in a plastic bag, they could have done a little bit more efforts on the packaging. Teaching video is online, very quick, to the point and not very well produced. I really think this was rushed out, they didn't take the time to make a well produced trick but still put the price very high ! I don't understand why they did so.

The pros and the cons : Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.

THE CONS :

  • The price ! Gosh, how can you put such a product $120 ? I understand the cost of the idea but here they did not even take the time to make a well produced product, a good packaging or even good video instructions.. I never saw that and I reviewed a lot of products, I feel they only want to take your money.

  • The « new » technology is not better than the old one, or maybe it's the stuff they used but I prefered the previous one.

  • I don't like the design of the pad, they look big and bulky.

  • They teach you only one way to do the peeking, don't even took the time to sit and think about others thing you could do with it.

THE PROS :

  • It works, it does the job. I don't feel confident enough to walk up to a table with a pad in my hand, people are not used to this kind of stuff and could ask why you're using such a pad. There are smaller and better pads.

  • The reset is clever, it is hidden inside the pen so it's pretty cool to have the ability of reseting the pad without carrying extra stuff.

  • You do get refills so it's not like you will have to go buy out new pads after a few performances. However the pads are not known so you will have to buy them through Mathieu Bich website.

  • It's easy to use, no manipulations are required, just have a good presentation.

Overall rating : I expected a lot from this and was disappointed. It's not a bad product but they clearly didn't take the time to make it being worth the price asked. It feels like a rushed project and I won't be using this big pad, 2/4 hearts.

As for the difficulty level, nothing hard, be careful with your angles and you should be fine, 2/5 stars.

Similar products : There are quite a few impression pads out there, I suggest you to wait till the « H Pad » comes out, it will be better than this !

Thanks to Murphys Magic for sending me this product !
