Review : Bliss by Noel Qualter

Product description: Bill in marker is a classic plot in magic, we’ve all thought about it at some point. There were various tricks out there which allowed to do this and now comes Bliss. Noel Qualter is a very creative magician and his ideas are always fresh and disruptive. Bliss is no exception to that, it’s an amazing bit of kit which will allow you to do a complete vanish of the signed bill and will also help the loading into the Sharpie. I think the perfect definition is that it could be one of Bond’s gadget. But is it worth the price and practical, let’s find out!

Price and where to buy it: This is sold at $150 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's magic partner !

What you get: The packaging looks very cool, a magnetic closing box, really nicely made which protects all the gizmos. Inside, you’ll find a link for an explanation video, done by Noel himself, it’s really well made too, you understand everything you need to know. You also get a Sharpie, which has been dried out so you can use it in the routine. The Bliss gimmick is really amazing, you can tell it has been developed over the years, with various prototypes. It will help you to make disappear the bill and also to load it into the Sharpie, so it has 2 functions. Overall, it’s expensive but it really is a nice bit of kit.

The pros and the cons: Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.

THE CONS:

  • It’s a bit bulky to have it on your belt during an entire close-up gig.It does not take up any pocket space but still is a bit bulky on you.

  • You need to have an open shirt, a jacket or a vest so you can hide it.

  • It does a bit of noise during the vanish of the bill, as with every gimmick of this kind.

THE PROS:

  • The gimmick is amazing, everything has been thought of, and included into one single piece.

  • It looks to be very sturdy, I don’t think it can break easily. It appears to be a plastic injection part so no worries about it.

  • Once you get the knack, the load of the bill into the Sharpie is very quick and should take less than 5 seconds.

  • I like how it has been designed so the vanish of the bill already setup the load into the Sharpie, I was very surprised and happy to find that.

  • The Sharpie is completely normal and examinable, so even if you lose it, you can replace it with a regular one.

  • The reset is quite quick and the routine is easy to do.

Overall rating: I think this is one of the best gimmick of its kind, and it does perfectly the job. But I can’t see myself carrying it on my belt for a whole close-up gig, hence the 3/4 hearts.

As for the difficulty level, I think you have to get the knack for it, it’s not that easy and will require quite some practice, 3/5 stars.

Similar products: Bill To Marker by Antonio Romero is the only one I have and it’s very cool too but does not use a regular Sharpie.
