Review : 52 to 1 Deck by Wayne Fox & David Penn

Product description : I don’t really know Wayne Fox neither his magic, I know that he put out some time ago 5221 and he have now teamed up with World Magic Shop and David Penn in order to produce this new “52 to 1 Deck”. The idea is simple, you show your deck to be regular, you spread it and ask someone to think about a card they see. Once it’s done and with very little fishing, you just cut the deck, without knowing the actual card of the spectator, they reveal it, you turn the card on which you have cut, it’s their card. It’s as simple as that ! Let’s see if this really works well and if it’s worth your money.

Price and where to buy it : This is sold at $32.50 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's magic « partner » shop !

What you get : You get a plastic box with inside the deck as well as a link in order to watch the explanation video. I like the explanation video, they did a great job explaining the mechanics of the deck and how to “prepare” it. When you receive it, there is a small preparation of 5 minutes you have to do in order for your deck to work. It’s very easy and it’s a onetime setup. You also get the gimmicked deck which has been specially printed by USPCC, it is very well made and I can see it lasting a long time if you take care of it. Overall, I’m very happy with what I received, you get a custom deck to allow you to do the effect, a good video, I’m not disappointed with it.

The pros and the cons : Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.

THE CONS :

[if !supportLists]· [endif]You have to specially carry this deck in order to do the routine, you can’t do anything else but this routine with the deck.

[if !supportLists]· [endif]The deck isn’t examinable at all, you may switch in and out with another regular deck if you want. Oh and it only comes in red bicycle.

THE PROS :

[if !supportLists]· [endif]I really like the fact that with the deck, you can show all 52 different cards and go into the routine whenever you want, it’s a nice little convincer.

[if !supportLists]· [endif]You don’t have to do anything, everything is made so you can focus on your presentation, it’s almost automatic.

[if !supportLists]· [endif]There is very few fishing, I was scared that the fishing would be too obvious but it’s not, you can do it very subtlety without the spectator noticing anything.

[if !supportLists]· [endif]You can have the spectator to cut the deck, it will require a little bit more audience management but it’s completely doable and the impact is even better when it’s the spectator who cut himself the deck.

[if !supportLists]· [endif]You could even do it with several spectators who think different cards, you’ll have to find the proper presentation and routining but you can do it without any problem.

Overall rating : This is one of the few gimmicked decks that I can actually see myself using and carrying around, it’s that strong ! I really liked this, 4/4 hearts.

As for the difficulty level, it’s very simple to do, I would say 2/5 stars.

Similar products : You may want to check 5221 by Wayne Fox but it’s likely to be similar.
