Review : Any Card by Richard Sanders

Product description: Richard Sanders never disappoint! Here is his latest release which is a very interesting take on the invisible/brainwave deck which is reveal a named card using a full deck. Basically, someone name a card, and you go through your blue deck, and show that you only have the 4 aces reversed, so you screwed up. Fortunately, when you turn over the aces and they’re red, and on them, it’s written “THE”, “FOUR”, “OF” and “CLUBS” (if people named the 4 of clubs). It’s a deck which does all the work for you, let’s find out if it’s good!

Price and where to buy it: This is sold at $39.95 and you can find it here : www.magicdream.fr

What you get: Packaging is not the best I’ve seen there, it’s just a simple ziplock bag with all the papers and deck inside, it could have been made better but hey, at least the trick is good. You’ll find papers with a link on it in order to watch the explanation video which is really nicely made by Richard. And of course, you get the deck which is already prepared and setup, you just have to customise it within your language. Overall, deck is well made, trick is strong, video is good, the only and small con for me is the packaging.

The pros and the cons: Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.

THE CONS:

  • As I said, packaging is really not the best I’ve seen but again, it’s not really what you’re buying there.

  • The deck can’t be examined and you can’t do anything else with it than this trick, see it as an invisible deck, 1 trick only and you put it away.

  • It will only be available in blue backed/red aces/bicycle. You could change it but you’ll need to remake it, and buy several decks.

THE PROS:

  • I like the twist on the classic Invisible Deck, this is really fun to do and practical, you can really perform this right after you customized it in your language.

  • One strong pro is that you can put whichever thing you want at the back of the aces and see it like a multiple out system built in a deck of cards which is really strong in my opinion.

  • This is really easy to do, with a bit of training, you’ll be able to pull out the aces like nothing happened.

  • You can really pull out any named cards, which is very good.

  • I really like tricks where it looks like the magician screwed up and then kick the spectators in the teeth, it’s stronger than a simple reveal.

  • The workings are quite similar to Invisible deck but with a different stuff

Overall rating: Simple, strong, quick reset, this is a good trick, not something I would perform a lot because I don’t want to carry another deck with me just for that but definitely a winner, 3/4 hearts.

As for the difficulty level, it’s very easy to do with a little bit of work, 2/5 stars.

Similar products: Invisible Deck or Brainwave Deck can also be 2 interesting gimmicked decks which rely on different and similar principle.
